Hypericum Oil

We hand harvest several large baskets of the beautiful sun-like flowers of St. John's Wort from Avena's garden, and immediately infuse them into organic olive oil for a two week period. Our special infusion process creates a magnificent deep red oil, which traditionally is known to relieve pain and inflammation from injured tissues, aching muscles, and joints. This oil is extremely beneficial for women to rub on the perineum before, during and after birth. Soothes sunburns, minor cuts, abrasions and hemorrhoids. Best used post sunburn, as it may cause increased photosensitivity when applied before sun exposure.*


Avena’s organic Biodynamic® gardens produce 70% of the herbs used in our products. We apply organic compost and Biodynamic® preparations to nourish the soil and hand harvest our herbs following seasonal cycles. Some herbs are respectfully wildcrafted or organically grown by others who share our philosophy of care and respect for our Mother Earth. After harvesting the herbs are infused in olive oil for two weeks to capture the vibrant colors & healing essences of our gardens.
