Elsie Gawler is one of our co-workers here at Avena Botanicals. She's a fantastic musician, a beautiful song writer, a skillful gardener and carpenter, and a downright awesome human being. Elsie and her partner Ethan and her sisters Molly and Edith bring such joy and life to us with their music, today, and every day. Elsie

Elsie Gawler is a multi-instrumentalist and songster rooted in Maine's traditional folk music and culture. With her family, the Gawler Family Band, she has played throughout the state and beyond, sharing traditional fiddle tunes, songs, and original works since she was 6 years old. From this foundation she has branched out and launched her debut solo album, Sweet As Honey, which will be released in the spring of this year. The album is a collection of 9 original songs inspired by precious connection to earth and community. Currently the album can be pre-ordered on her website elsiegawler.com. While continuing to play regularly with The Gawler Family Band, her other projects include duo Elsie & Ethan, trio Wake Robin, and trio The Gawler Sisters.

Ethan

"A strong, confident vocalist and lyricist" (Seven Days VT), Ethan's singing, songwriting, and instrumental musicianship have been featured in 8 albums spanning traditions, from professional a capella (Vineyard Sound), Indie and folk/trad (Maiden Vermont, Brightbird, Duncan & Stokes, Elsie Gawler), and family music (Mr. Chris & Friends). His original songs "render reverent lyrics," alongside "musicianship and a disarming vulnerability" (VT) to speak to the heart through sound and story.
