Sinus Support

A valuable formula to keep in your herb cupboard to support healthy mucous membranes in the sinuses & respiratory tract.*

About Sinus Support: Our nose is the entrance to our respiratory tract, which is made up of juicy and responsive tissues called mucous membranes. These tissues protect us and live up to their namesake, ‘mucous' when irritated by environmental and seasonal factors. Sinus Support helps to soothe occasional irritation of the sinus and nasal passages while encouraging a healthy response to seasonal challenges. Plant Profiles:

  • Hyssop (Hyssopus officinalis) - Hyssop is a beautiful and humble plant growing in Avena's Biodynamic gardens, rich in aromatics. Used in lozenges, syrups, and teas through the ages, Hyssop supports respiratory health with soothing and regenerative properties.
  • Eyebright (Euphrasia officinalis) - This special herb works to protect and preserve healthy mucous membranes in the upper respiratory tract. For over 30 years, Deb has been traveling to a special island off the coast of Maine to hand-gather Eyebright. Our Eyebright tincture is truly of the highest quality, making our Sinus Support an effective and potent blended tincture.
  • Osha (Ligusticum porteri) - Osha is a special respiratory tract supportive herb. This protective root is used to encourage healthy mucous membranes and relieve sluggishness. We purchase a small amount of Osha root every few years from someone who carefully monitors the health and abundance of the area they mindfully gather the roots from.
  • Goldenseal (Hydrastis canadensis) - Has a root that is yellow and bitter. This much revered herb encourages healthy mucous membranes and offers strong immune system support. We purchase fresh Goldenseal from a certified organic grower and encourage all people using herbs to support organic Goldenseal growers in order to protect this native plant.
  • Elderflower (Sambucus canadensis) - Our Elderberry bushes are covered with beautiful white flowers in early summer. We climb a special wooden apple ladder to carefully gather the Elder flowers, tincturing them immediately. Their delicate flower heads and fragrance is a gift to be around. Elderflowers, once pollinated by tiny native bees, become the fruits of the Elderberry in late summer that many of us value and respect for their immune supporting properties. Elderflowers gently and effectively encourage a healthy immune system and help maintain healthy mucous membranes.
