About Lung Tonic Tincture: Many different practitioners around the world say the spirit of life is found in the breath. We created this special tonic with clear, easeful breathing in mind. Lung Tonic is made from a dynamic and supportive collection of plants that, when used daily over a period of time, fortify both the immune and respiratory systems of the human body.

There are many reasons why people desire to support the health of their lungs. Lung Tonic focuses on this specific area of support while also recognizing that all the systems of the body are connected and work together. That's why we also include herbs that support general liver, immune, and circulatory function. This tonic is an easy way to bring moistening, revitalizing, and protection to these different areas of the body.

Ingredients: Dried Astragalus (Astragalus membranaceus) root†, Fresh Marshmallow (Althea officinalis) root†, Fresh Mullein (Verbascum olympicum) leaf†, Dried Reishi (Ganoderma lucidum) mushroom**, Fresh Schisandra (Schisandra chinensis) berries†, Spring Water, Grain Alcohol (alcohol 95% by volume, water)^, Vegetable glycerin^.

Plant Profiles:

• Astragalus (Astragalus membranaceus) - Sweet, warming, and building. A true tonic, Astragalus supports the immune system of the body, helps to build blood, and has a specific affinity for lung and immune health. This root is best taken regularly over several months to rejuvenate and strengthen the body. In Avena's apothecary, we cook Astragalus roots for several hours before adding alcohol. This long cooking process draws out the water soluble constituents found in the roots. Our apothecary has a very distinctive nutty and sweet aroma as the Astragalus roots are decocted.
• Marshmallow (Althea officinalis) - Marshmallow grows in many different places throughout Avena's Biodynamic gardens and tends to prefer moist soil. This aquaphilia is reflected in the specific moistening and mucilaginous qualities of Marshmallow's leaves, root, and sweet pink flowers. These moistening qualities soothe mucous membranes from mouth to bowel, while supporting the lungs and other tissues reflexively throughout the body.
• Mullein (Verbascum olympicum) - Dozens of 6-8 foot tall, majestic Greek Mullein plants grow in several gardens on Avena's farm. We have been tending this specific Mullein species for over 25 years. The garden has a vibrant yellow glow in July when the second year Mulleins are in full bloom, delighting gardeners and the thousands of pollinating insects that benefit from this multi-flower-branching plant. Mullein leaves have a soft, fuzzy, almost sage colored whirl of basal leaves and a tap root which grows confidently through compacted soils. The Greek Mullein species sends up a tall "wand" of yellow flowers . Mullein leaves soothe tissue, help to open the respiratory tract including the sinuses, and support normal expectoration of the lungs.
• Reishi (Ganoderma lucidum) - Like Astragalus, Reishi is tonic in nature, and much revered the world-over for its vitality-giving and energy-enhancing properties. Spirited, red, and shiny with a smooth white underside, these restorative mushrooms deeply support the immune system, ease tension, and have a special affinity for the cardiovascular system, the liver, and lungs and for building resilience to physical, mental, and environmental stressors.
• Schisandra (Schisandra chinensis)- Bright, juicy, red berries from Avena's hardy vines, these tart berries impart a feeling of vibrancy, resilience, and rhythm that is grounded and calm. Schisandra is a most beloved plant that supports healthy respiration and metabolism, and offers tonifying and protective qualities to the immune system, kidneys, and lungs.

Servings: 20 per 1oz bottle.

Serving Size: Add 30 drops (1.5ml).

Suggested Use: Add 30 drops (1.5ml) of tincture to 1 ounce of water 3 times/day or as directed by your healthcare provider.

Safety Considerations: None. Note: Discontinue use during an acute infection and resume use once infection is resolved.
