About Blue Vervain Tincture: Blue Vervain is a beautiful and humble plant, and an important low-dose bitter nervine herb with a deep affinity for the nervous system and muscular tension, particularly that of the upper back, shoulders, and neck. Think of Blue Vervain when you or a loved one accumulate tightness and tension in the body (and senses) by trying to change or control things that you cannot, including other people's actions. Blue Vervain helps us to lay certain things down, so we too can find peace from a new vantage point.
This beautiful fresh tincture offers emotional and physical support to the nervous system and to the regenerative/reproductive system of the body. Blue Vervain encourages balance in individuals who experience emotional stress and discomfort pre-menstrually or stress and agitation associated with menopause.
Garden Notes: One of our favorite native herbs, we hand-harvest the beautiful flowering tops and delicate leaves of Blue Vervain from our Biodynamic gardens in mid- to late summer and immediately tincture them fresh in organic alcohol. Blue Vervain's brilliant blue flowers attract a variety of bees. An important native plant to grow and share with other gardeners.
Taste / Energetics: bitter, cooling, relaxing, calming.
Actions: relaxing nervine, antispasmodic, bitter, diaphoretic, digestive.
When to reach for it: When experiencing tightness or stiffness of the upper back, shoulders, or neck. To support mood and ease around menses and menopause. When you're stuck in the land of lists. When experiencing increased stress, tension, and agitation from factors outside of yourself that you want to change or control but are unable to. Helpful for gaining a new, fresh perspective.
